Prokaryotes, such as bacteria do not have a nucleus or other compartmentalized organelles. Eukaryotes have membraned organelles that allow for specialization. The DNA of a Eukaryote is contained in the nucleus. Prokaryotic cells and eukaryotic cells are somewhat similar in that both are encased in a plasma membrane and both are filled with cytoplasm.
